Rinnai 08, 011, 263, 431, 556 gas space heaters parts for direct vent ductless heater. The result is my rebuilt Monitors run better than they did when they were new.Time the heater is lit or when the heater has been out. He replaces all of that stuff with different mats, uses a different kind of mat adhesive, and bearings which are stronger. He rebuilds them differently than most, because the problem with the Monitor 21 and 41 units is in the burner mats and fan bearings which wear out prematurely. In our retail store there are two Monitors both of which were rebuilt by Al's Heating. All of my units are kerosene, and in this house I have two Toyostoves and one Monitor, all from Al's heating. Propane is not a particularly efficient means of heating here it would seem, and I have never used a propane fired heating unit for large space. I have done business with him for five years or so, and just picked up one of my Monitor kerosene heaters that he rebuilt. Al's heating is an interesting source of information from his website and a personal visit is usually a treat, if often a bit unorthodox. I wonder if you guys know about "Al" ala "Al's heating" up in Maine?Ībsolutely. Moral of the story is chose the right size heater and stay warm and safe!!! And be efficient Either way it is always nice to have a "back up". We will probably put the 556 in the basement (which has electric baseboard that I absolutely refuse to turn on!!!) allowing us to utilize this space when we need it. I ended up spending about a week sealing and insulating our central heating vents and that has made a huge difference but I still prefer the Rinnai!!! We ran the Rinnai exclusively while I took the entire system apart and it kept our very leaky 850 sq ft (with a non-heated basement keeping our floors icy cold) warm enough to tolerate 6 F outside temps. So not only 2x the heat but more power to blow it to get "out". ![]() The room is too far removed from the living room (where we spend most of our time and want to be warm the most!!!).Īnother thing I noticed now that I'm looking at the specs is that the fan on the 1004 is much more powerful. Unfortunately we got the 556WTA (21,500 BTU) due to space constraints and placed it in another room, which didn't work too well. I was trying to do something that would keep us warmer and save us money in the long term by allowing us to stop using the central heat (which has ceiling vents - doesn't work too well when heat rises). I wanted to get the 38,000 BTU model (1004) and put it in our living room hoping it would heat the whole house and I think it probably would have done a pretty decent job at it. If a 96% furnace is 3 grand, you could buy and install 3 Rinnai's for roughly the same price. I like to point out that in real life applications, an 84% Rinnai is probably more efficient than a 96% central furnace by the time the heat reaches the rooms and you've lost 15% of the heat to duct work. For example I had 3 contractors tell me I couldn't place it under a window. The HVAC guys don't want you to know about them, and don't know the code required for installation. It's interesting because nobody around here (NJ) knows what these are and scoff at them because they've never heard of them. Most company's would probably send you the parts and tell you to figure out how to install it. 11 complaints and they're recalling all possible units and having someone come out to our house at their expense. I really like the Rinnai also and I don't knock them as a company for this incident.
